Vision
The Burton High School Academy of Health Science provides an interdisciplinary academic program to invigorate students in their pursuit to successfully complete the coursework required for college/university matriculation. Our inspired student leaders will provide a vital role to the health care industry.
AoHS Teacher Profiles.
My Name is John M Schlauraff was born in Boston and went to college at Rivier in Nashua, New Hampshire. It was there that i received my bachelor’s degree in science, majoring in Biology along with a minor in Spanish. I also received my Master of Education degree in Cross Cultural Teaching. I teaches Biology as well as health science at Phillip and Sala Burton Academic High school.
My name is Sylvia Fitch and I am originally from Houston, Texas. What I enjoy most is traveling and meeting people. Some of my hobbies are: playing the piano, reading, photography, walking (Land's End) with friends and/or family, and playing bridge. I have seventeen years of teaching experience and I've worked in several school districts prior to working in the San Francisco Unified School District. The school districts include the following: Los Angeles, West Contra Costa and Montgomery County in Maryland. I've taught Biology, Earth Science, Physical Science and Honors Biology. I currently teach Biology and Health Science here at Burton.
Health Science Classes
10 Grade Academy of Health Science
Students will be introduced to the academic foundations for health science learning about medical terminology, the human body and disease, current health care issues, community interaction, and scientific research.
11th Grade Academy of Health Science
Students will explore a broad range of health science careers focusing on the career pathways and employability skills while identifying internship position opportunities for the summer of their Junior year.
